The lessons learned and recommendations highlight the importance of peer-to-peer learning in helping Science Granting Councils (SGCs) adopt best practices for efficient research management. Continuous capacity building for ICT and technical teams is crucial to effectively manage the online Grants Management System. Additionally, resources are needed to establish online research permit issuance systems across all councils. There is a strong emphasis on enhancing capacity in research ethics and excellence, while also addressing the training needs of SGC staff to bridge the capacity gap in the GFGP certification process, thereby strengthening their capabilities and fostering ownership of the GFGP process.
