Mozambique has a comprehensive legal framework for IP protection and is a member of key international treaties and organizations, including ARIPO, TRIPS, WIPO, the Paris Convention, the Berne Convention, and the PCT. While the laws provide enforcement mechanisms through administrative, civil, and criminal actions, challenges persist due to limited resources, weak infrastructure, and enforcement gaps in rural areas. Ongoing efforts focus on raising awareness and strengthening institutional capacity to improve IP protection and enforcement.

Description

Mozambique has made significant strides in establishing a comprehensive IP framework and engaging in PPPs and technology transfer initiatives. However, addressing the persistent challenges in enforcement, IP awareness, and managing IP within PPPs is essential for maximizing the benefits of IP for Mozambique’s development.
